Depois de 4 meses e meio trabalhando no barco finalmente quase pronto para partir com a "Preserve". Foram dias começando as 4-5 da manhã para não pegar a chuva que caia pelo meio dia, ou simplesmente para evitar o calor, pricipalmente quando estava lixando ou quando tinha que trabalhar dentro do barco. Trinidade tem um clima muito parecido com o nordeste do Brasil, alguns dias de um calor insuportavel, humidade alta e ai o suor derretendo no corpo. Mas não podia parar, a vontade de estar com o barco na agua crescia a cada dia. E com um pouco menos de 3 meses de trabalho, lá estava ela flutuando na agua.
[EN] After 4 and a half months working in the boat finally almost ready to leave with "Preserve". It was days starting at 4-5 in the morning to avoid the rain that felt at noon, or simply to avoid the heat, mainly when it was sanding or when it was working inside the boat. Trinidad has a climate very similar to the northeast of Brazil, some days of unbearable heat, high humidity and there the sweat melting in the body. But I could not stop, the desire to be with the boat in the water grew every day. And with under three months of work, there she was floating in the water.
3 meses de muito trabalho para isso, pra começar com a quilha que tive que remove-la para trocar os parafusos e para isso tive que desmontar toda a sala e cozinha do barco. A quilha estava com uma abertura pequena na frente e quando a removi percebi que estava um pouco dentro do casco na parte de tras. E ai começaram os trabalhos para lixar e tirar toda a parte delaminada de fibra e depois foram 22 camadas de fibra de vidro para reforçar o casco, 15 camadas por fora e 7 por dentro, no lugar mais critico onde suporta a quilha o casco ficou com quase 4 centimetros.
[EN] 3 months of hard work for this, starting with the keel that I have to remove to change the screws and for this I have to unmount the whole room and kitchen of the boat. A keel had a small gap in the front and when a remove I realized it was a bit inside in the hull in the back. And there began the work to sanding and taking all delaminated part of the fiber and so on 22 layers of fiberglass to strengthen the hull, 15 layers on the outside and 7 on the inside, in the critical place where the keel supports the hull remained with almost 4 centimeters.
Mas ainda era apenas o começo, pois o barco estava 5 anos em terra e muita coisa para ser feita pela frente. Colar e envernizar as madeiras do cockpit, checar e costurar velas, trocar oleo, filtros, mangueiras, limpar injetores, consertar alternador e controlador que por sinal me deram uma boa dor de cabeça ficando uma semana no dock de emergencia da Marina Power Boats para conseguir fazer funcionar e carregar as baterias.
[EN] But it was still only the beginning, for the boat was five years on the ground and much to be done ahead. To glue and varnish woods of the cockpit, to check and to sew sails, change oil, filters, hoses, to clean nozzles, to repair alternator and controller that by the way gave me a good headache staying a week in the emergency dock of Power Boats Marina to get all working and charging the batteries.
E não para por ai, a parte hidraulica tive que trocar alguns tubos, reparar os tanques de agua que estavam furados, tirei toda a parte eletrica de bombas no abastecimento de agua, deixei tudo manual com bombas de pedal, quanto mais simples e menos energia sendo gasta melhor. A parte eletrica foi dificil, aprendendo bastante para conseguir organizar tudo. Os nomes nos disjuntores estavam varios trocados, geladeira era bomba de porão, luz da bussola era autopiloto e assim vai. E para encontrar o que era cada um foi uma bagunça, seguir cada cabo para ver onde ia e assim por diante. Mas foi muito bom fazer tudo assim para conhecer bem a "Preserve".
[EN] And do not stop there, a hydraulics part that change some tubes, repair the water tanks that are drilled, tire an entire electrical part of pumps without water supply, I left everything manual with pedal pumps, the simpler and less energy being spend better. The electrical part was difficult, learning enough to create everything. The names on the circuit breakers in several exchanges, the refrigerator and the bilge pump, the light of the era of the bus and the driver. And to find what each one is for a mess, follow each cable to see where and so on. But it was very good to do all this well to get to know "Preserve".
E a lista de coisas ainda estava enorme, quando comprei o barco na especificação tinha 2 ancoras e 150 metros de corrente, na correria para iniciar a reforma me dei conta que uma nao estava no barco na segunda semana, tinham roubado a ancora de 25 quilos e 150 metros de corrente. Fui na Dynamite Marina que foi o brocker que me vendeu o barco e falaram que eu tinha que ter visto antes, tentei falar com o ex-dono mas nada adiantou, tive que ficar com o prejuizo mas logo comsegui comprar uma ancora Delta e 60 metros de corrente de um pescador que conheci.
[EN] And the list of things was still huge, when I bought the boat in the specification had 2 anchors and 150 meters of chain in the rush to start working I realized that one was not on the boat in the second week, had been stolen the anchor of 25 kilos and 150 meters of chain. I went to the Dynamite Marina which was the broker who sold me the boat and said that I had to have seen it before, I tried to talk to the ex-owner, but he did not do anything, I got to stay the damage, but soon I bought a Delta anchor and 60 meters current of a fisherman who knows.
Foram aparecendo presentes de pessoas maravilhosas que conheci, guincho de ancora eletrico do meu amigo Ragga. Pois o meu era manual e velejando sozinho fica dificil para ir na proa recolher a ancora e volta para manobrar o barco. Para montar não foi nada facil, tive que cortar a tampa da caixa de ancora para adapta-lo na proa e passar todos os fios até a bateria que fica na popa, mas um trabalho que valera a pena quando for ancorar. Outro presente foi o "Jarbas", primeiro tripulante do barco que foi de muita ajuda. Um piloto de vento da marca Hydrovane que Billy Rigging me deu todo em partes e tive o prazer de remonta-lo e coloca-lo para funcionar.
[EN] And it was appearing many gifts from wonderful people I met, my friend Ragga gave to me an electric windlass. Mine was manual and sailing alone is difficult to go in the bow to collect the anchor and return to maneuver the boat. To mount it is not at all easy, which is to cut the cover of the anchor box to fit it in the bow and to pass all the wires until a battery that owns a stern, but a work that worth while when anchoring.
