We are back with new crew and a new old pirate boat

Long time without posting. Too many things happens in the last 2 years in Trinidad and Tobago. New crew and a new old pirate boat style to restore.

One born inside the other with the amazing work of mummy and son. Also our great midwife @pati_garcia that provide all the help and support in the birth. She even said about our son's name Cairi. The Arawak name of the island of Trinidad before the Spanishes arrive which means hummingbird island.

All this time we were here we were in Peake's Marina (they were like a family to us - always ready to help in whatever we need).

We have the boat in the yard until December last year and in our garden we had two giants cotton trees and a small rain river coming down the mountains to the sea. Most of the time dry but in the raining days coming down a lot of water.

Now we are floating again but still preparing the boat for the Atlantic crossing to Azores.

After more than 2 years we will finally start to put our idea of buying a bigger boat in practice. The idea was work with the boat doing day sailings and small charters but we went a bit deeper and want to provide sailing experiences in longer trips where it is possible to learn more about sailing, about the ocean and about the nature. By now we have 2 or 3 trips to offer this year:

1) May - June: Atlantic Crossing from Caribbean to Azores in total 4 to 6 weeks(still deciding from where)

2) June - July: Sailing Azores to Portugal or Madeira in total 1 to 3 weeks

3) July - August: Sailing Portugal or Madeira to Canary Islands 1 to 3 weeks

This would be our way of income to live and to keep the boat in shape to do in parallel with our project called World Coast Journey for the Preservation of the Seas. So if you are interested or know anyone send an email to worldcoastjourney@gmail.com with the subject Sailing Experience. Soon more informations.

This project started 8 years ago with the idea to follow all the coast of the world using means of transport that does not pollute to get awareness for the pollution in our Oceans.

The first 4 years were being done by bicycle and the focus was talk with at least 10 people per day. Then start doing presentations in general for adults but too many excuses and always pointing the problem to the others. So we change a bit and start doing the presentations in schools for the children that are the future of our world. Cycling more than 30.000 km and 25 countries visited in South and Central America and in Europe.

The next 4 years was done by sailing boat with more 20.000 nautical miles. In total more than 100 presentations was being done.

The boat is a Hudson Force built in Taiwan from 1974. An old pirate boat style in fiberglass with the interior in wood that is being completed restore in the last 2 years.

Next post we will write about how did we arrive in Trinidad and Tobago.
